The Forest Research and Training Center (FRTC), SagarNath, Sarlahi is a key institution under the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Madhesh Province Government. It is responsible for conducting training and research activities at the provincial level. The centre carries out forest resource surveys by selecting appropriate technologies from available methods and implements forest resource assessment at both provincial and district levels.
The centre has been contributing to enhancing the capacity of forestry sector employees in the province. It also conducts research activities in the forestry sector and provides training as well as extension services related to forestry.
Initially, a Regional Training Centre was established under the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation with the aim of developing skills among forestry technicians. With the adoption of Nepal"s federal system, in 2018 (2075 B.S.), research activities were also added, and the former Regional Training Centre was restructured and upgraded as the Forest Research and Training Centre (FRTC, Madhesh) under the provincial government.
Objectives
- To contribute to the conservation, management, and sustainable utilization of forest resources based on appropriate technology and updated data.
- To provide training for capacity enhancement of provincial-level employees working in the forestry sector.
